Wyatt’s Take

  • Ryan Routh, convicted of trying to kill President Trump, wants to serve time in a state where assisted suicide is legal.
  • He asked the judge to consider trading him for prisoners held by foreign nations.
  • Federal authorities, not the judge, decide where he goes.

Ryan Routh, convicted of attempting to assassinate President Trump, has asked a judge to send him to a state that allows assisted suicide. He says he’s a “constant failure” and sees no other way out.

Routh wrote, “Trade me for a Palestinian prisoner in Israel to have my spot in Hawaii, or a POW of Ukraine suffering in Russia or any prisoner anywhere that is suffering.”

He has tried to offer himself as a trade to foreign governments but says his efforts have been “ineffective.” He added, “Do not let me take my own life and it have zero benefit for humanity or mankind.”

Only some states and Washington D.C. allow assisted suicide. The judge can make a recommendation, but the Bureau of Prisons makes the final call on location.

Routh has defended himself in court and previously tried to harm himself after being found guilty.

Last year, Routh set up with a rifle at Trump’s golf course in Florida. A Secret Service agent spotted him before he could act, fired at him, and Routh fled, getting arrested later on a nearby highway.

Get the facts, speak your mind, and stay sharp. This is the kind of story folks in the heartland need to hear and talk about at the dinner table.
