Wyatt’s Take

  • Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun just took their year-old romance to the next level — meeting the kids. Experts say it’s make-or-break time for this power couple navigating fame, family, and a 17-year age gap.
  • Therapists are warning the pair needs to shield Braun’s three children from the Hollywood circus. These kids didn’t sign up for celebrity life, and the pressure could be overwhelming.
  • At 28, Sweeney’s career is exploding while Braun’s already been through marriage and kids. Can a rising star and a seasoned mogul balance romance with the reality of blended family life?

Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun’s relationship just hit a major milestone. The couple was spotted grabbing smoothies with Braun’s two children in Los Angeles, marking the first time the actress has been publicly seen with his kids.

Sweeney, 28, and Braun, 45, have kept their romance mostly under wraps since they first sparked rumors last summer. But now that children are in the picture, relationship experts say the stakes just got a lot higher.

Licensed clinical psychotherapist Robin Hamilton says protecting the children needs to be the top priority.

“You want to keep their personal lives personal and their parents’ celebrity lives theirs. Just keep it separate because people are going to be approaching these kids. They’re going to ask them questions … So they have to be prepared.”

Hamilton emphasized that Braun’s children — from his previous marriage to entrepreneur Yael Cohen — need deliberate protection from the Hollywood spotlight.

“Prepare the kids to navigate those questions and how people are going to approach them if they want them to be in the public life. I would say like being deliberate about spending quality time where there’s nobody commenting on you, there are no cameras there and just, you know, not putting all that pressure on the kids right now, because it’s a lot.”

Hamilton warned about the dangers of childhood fame. “We see what happens to people who are child stars when they grow up. Sometimes they can’t handle all of that stuff.”

The romance between Sweeney and Braun first made headlines in June 2025 at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos’ wedding in Venice, Italy. What started as casual dating turned serious by December, with insiders confirming the relationship had become committed.

“Scooter and Sydney are going strong and things between them are great,” a source said at the time. “They’re in a committed relationship and things are serious.”

Braun accompanied Sweeney to the April premiere of “Euphoria” season three, and she made their relationship Instagram official in May after posting photos from the event.

Relationship expert Nicole Moore says the couple’s low-key approach has served them well so far.

“Most celebrity romances have a short expiration date, so the fact that Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun have reached the stage of Sydney being involved with his kids is significant. Many parents don’t introduce a love interest to their children unless they’re confident the connection will be a lasting one, so it’s possible that Scooter sees Sydney as a long-term mate.”

Braun was married to Yael Cohen from 2014 until their divorce finalized in 2022. The former couple shares three children together.

But Moore warned that introducing kids into the relationship changes everything — especially if Sweeney is expected to step into a parental role.

“When children are involved, there’s a potential for a couple to get closer because they’re likely spending even more time together, but there’s also potential for the romance to dry up if all of their available time is spent on the kids. It will be important for Scooter and Sweeney to maintain date nights and consistent romantic activities if they want their relationship to survive this new stage.”

The age gap and career differences could also create friction. Sweeney’s star is rising fast in Hollywood, and she’s made it clear that her career comes first.

“Sydney is only 28 years old, so her career rise is likely the biggest focus right now,” Moore explained. “Based on how fiercely Sweeney has fought for her roles and how committed she’s been to her career, she’s unlikely to give up any career time to be a parental figure at this stage.”

Moore added that Sweeney faces the same pressure every young actor in Hollywood feels.

“Even the most successful actors in Hollywood often fear roles drying up if they’re not actively working, so Sydney likely feels pressure to keep performing. Sydney is most likely looking to be present and engaged with Scooter’s children when she’s with them, but she might not be ready to be a full-on parent yet.”

Celebrity matchmaker April Davis says their shared understanding of fame could be their secret weapon — but their different life stages present real challenges.

“Sydney is incredibly successful, and being with someone like Scooter who understands paparazzi hounds and media buzz can make things easier. That said, they’re in pretty different places in life. Scooter already has three children and Sydney’s career is still taking off in a major way. Add in the age difference, travel, and demanding schedules, and there’s a lot of moving parts for them to navigate.”

Davis warned that juggling two high-profile careers and a blended family won’t be easy.

“I think making their already-full lives work together will be the biggest challenge for Sydney and Scooter. Plenty of power couples make it work, but it takes real communication skills, effort, and time.”

Sweeney was previously engaged to producer Jonathan Davino from 2018 until early 2025, when she called off their engagement after three years.

Wyatt Matters

Hollywood relationships are tough enough without throwing kids, careers, and cameras into the mix. This couple is navigating a lot — an age gap, blended family challenges, and two demanding careers. Whether they make it work or not, one thing’s clear: the children didn’t ask for any of this attention, and protecting them should come first. Let’s hope these two keep their priorities straight.
