January 1, Trump Allies Plan Early for 2026 Power Fight

Wyatt’s Take
- Trump’s team met in DC to map out the 2026 midterms.
- The economy and affordability are the core issues for voters.
- Republicans must keep clear focus as Democrats push a ‘Stop Trump’ message.
After the 2024 election ended, the next battle for Congress started right away. Trump’s top strategists and officials gathered in Washington, DC this week to get ready for the 2026 midterms and protect GOP majorities in the House and Senate.
At this strategy meeting, the team focused on key issues like affordable housing, the economy, and lowering prescription drug costs. They learned that border issues do not sway voters as much anymore. Instead, everyday costs and getting by matter most.
Tony Fabrizio, a campaign pollster, made it clear: “The economy will be THE issue in the election.” Messages about banning stock trading for Congress, health insurance transparency, and keeping tax cuts are what voters respond to.
Most persuadable voters are men, moderates, true independents, and Hispanics. Reaching these folks means using Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, not just national news.
The group saw the path ahead: 36 targeted House races and 7 must-win Senate seats. Losing the Senate means Democrats need to flip 50 House seats, which is a tall order if the GOP stays focused.
They stressed the need for on-the-ground support in key districts and using cabinet members to boost local campaigns. Everyone must stick to messages about affordability and stay off the usual talking points that don’t hit home.
As one adviser said, trying to tell folks that wages are rising doesn’t do much unless people feel it in their own wallet. Trump will run his own style, but the rest of the team is sticking to what the data says works.
Democrats will likely drive a message to “Stop Trump,” but Republicans know where their strengths are: national security, immigration, cutting taxes, and bringing jobs back.
With the strategy laid out, it’s up to the GOP to take action. The campaign never truly ends, and it’s working families who have the most at stake in each election.
