January 1, “That’s False”: Democrat Rep. Called Out for Lying

As tensions run high on Capitol Hill, Democrat Rep. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut has come under fire for purportedly making false statements about the contents of a stopgap spending bill.

DeLauro vocally claimed that House Republicans secretly tweaked the bill to “provide themselves with a pay raise.”

DeLauro claimed there were “many changes” in the House and Senate versions of the legislation. She eventually voted in favor of the bill.

“Here is one that I believe the majority will not mention,” the Democrat said. “They amend the Senate bill to give themselves a pay raise. A pay raise. It’s there. You can look at me, you can smile but what you did was you amended the Senate bill to give yourselves a pay raise.”

This proclamation was swiftly countered by House Republicans, who retorted, “That’s false.”

DeLauro, unyielding in her stance, tweeted, “The Member Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) automatically takes effect unless it is blocked. The Senate blocked this in their CR. The House GOP CR does not.”

She added, “News flash: a COLA is a pay increase for Members of Congress.”

Countering DeLauro’s assertions, Rep. Austin Scott, R-Ga., took the floor to clear the air, stressing that her claims were “simply not true” and merely an “excuse.”

Drawing from constitutional provisions, Scott said, “No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.”

Scott then addressed the attendees, emphasizing, “You need to know who’s telling you the truth and who’s not telling you the truth.”

He went on to clarify, “Recently, you heard my colleague from Connecticut tell you that the Republican bill has a pay raise for members in Congress. It’s simply not true, and if it did, it would be unconstitutional.”

Driving his point further, Scott posited that any changes in compensation within the Senate bill would also be “unconstitutional.”

He didn’t hold back his criticism of the Democrats, suggesting, “They are simply grasping at straws. They have intended to shut down the government from the start.”

In a fervent conclusion, Scott admonished, “Disregard totally what you’re hearing from the other side. They are grasping at straws, making excuses and telling flat-out lies about member compensation as an excuse to vote against this piece of legislation.”

Nobody is answering the question. Does the pay increase after the election or not? it looks they are arguing past east other. Not really answering the other’s position.

Congressional pay raise have to be voted on by congress. Those who are not present to vote are counted as a yes.

Thank you, Representative Scott for not letting lies go unanswered. We have too much of that happening and the media going along with it. It is time to stand up for truth, especially in the Congress.

I know I am not the only one thinking that this is one ugly woman. She must not have any friends who care about her and tell her that she needs to change the way she looks. Wow! Just Wow!

This woman is all kinds of stupid. I can’t believe someone her age making irrational pathetic statements, lying, and making an absolute ass of herself. However, the democrats do it so well and so often! Not too mention that stupid hair color and ugly glasses. DeLauro for God’s sake grow up, act your age and attempt if your feeble mind can grasp it a hair color that doesn’t look like a stupid Tik Tok moron! You’re a politician, have some self respect if not for others. If you can’t manage the simplest of tasks than give your bote and seat up to someone that can do the job who isn’t grossly incompetent! I can’t believe how many idiots we have in politics!

This woman is from outer space and dumb as a box of rocks, and she is definitely a lying Dem/Communist. Who votes for these people to represent them? She must live in the basement with Biden. Our country was energy independent during the Trump administration and we could afford gas to stay warm in the winter, but not with Biden and his administration. If you noticed during her speech, she talks about taking up a donation for these people, but never mentions giving them what they really need….jobs and lower prices.

She could possibly have the same degenerative disease that Joe Biden suffers from and causes the American public to suffer right along with them
