Wyatt’s Take

  • Early voting is kicking off in Texas for March 3 primaries.
  • Both Republican and Democratic races are drawing national attention.
  • Runoffs could happen if no candidate wins a clear majority.

Early voting for Texas primary elections begins Tuesday, February 17, and goes until Friday, February 27. Both Republican and Democratic Senate primaries are getting a lot of attention, with control of the Senate at stake.

Incumbent Senator John Cornyn, a Republican, has been in office since 2002 and now faces primary challengers like Ken Paxton and Wesley Hunt.

The main Democratic contenders are Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico.

“While people don’t know if their loved ones will come home because they’ve been disappeared by ICE or if there will be accountability for the despicable things in the Epstein files or if they will be choosing between rent, healthcare, or food… some would suggest let’s just do politics as usual… THAT is the exact thinking that got us here,”

Crockett wrote in a Monday post on X.

“Tomorrow is the first day of early voting, It’s time for the people to be heard, loudly & clearly!”

She added.

Republican volunteers are busy getting polling places ready across the state. If no candidate secures more than half the votes, a runoff will be held in May.

Make sure your voice counts—get out and vote for your values this primary season.
