January 1, Silent Pandemic Surging And Jeopardizes Millions
The silent pandemic of kidney disease is surging, becoming the third-fastest growing cause of death worldwide. According to an article published in the journal Nature, it is expected to rise to the fifth-highest cause of death by 2040. Currently, around 850 million people suffer from kidney-related issues, burdening tax-payer-funded Medicare plans.
Shockingly, kidney disease has been largely ignored by public health authorities such as the World Health Organization (WHO). It isn’t even listed among WHO’s priority non-communicable diseases causing early deaths. Instead, WHO focuses on stroke, heart disease, diabetes, lung diseases, and cancer, resulting in low public awareness of kidney disease.
The International Society of Nephrology, the American Society of Nephrology, and the European Renal Association are lobbying WHO to include kidney disease in their priority list. A study funded by these organizations highlighted that “tackling diabetes and heart disease alone will not target the core drivers of a large proportion of kidney diseases.”
One of the main causes of kidney disease is exposure to toxic substances. According to Nature, this will become more prevalent as a result of climate change. Kidney disease is more prevalent in low-income and lower-middle-income nations, where treatments are expensive due to the high costs imposed by Big Pharma and the medical industry.
It seems that only when Big Pharma finds a way to profit from the treatment of kidney disease will the issue gain the attention it deserves. Until then, the silent pandemic continues to be a growing threat to global health.

The majority of kidney disease is secondary not primary and there is absolutely nothing to back the idea that kidney disease will increase because of so-called climate change

You can’t trust an article that states kidney disease is the third highest cause of death now and will surge to the fifth highest cause of death by 2040. So in other words it’s not signing it’s decreasing.
