The Los Angeles Rams traded with the Kansas City Chiefs last week to grab cornerback Trent McDuffie. They followed up by signing him to a four-year, $124 million extension with $100 million guaranteed.

That makes him the highest-paid corner at $31 million per year. He gets $13.6 million next year on his option.

Rams gave up their 29th pick this draft, plus 2026 fifth- and sixth-rounders and a 2027 third-rounder.

McDuffie earned First-team All-Pro honors in 2023. He helped Chiefs win two Super Bowls, with 63 tackles last year, seven passes defended, one sack, and one forced fumble.

Career stats show 34 passes defended, eight forced fumbles, 5.5 sacks, and 246 tackles. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes tweeted “damn” on the news.

Born in Westminster, California, McDuffie wanted to play near family.

“If I could play for another team, I’d probably want to play close to my family, so that would probably be the L.A. Rams so that my family could come see every single game,” McDuffie said.

His deal hits before free agency tampering starts Monday.

Folks, these mega-contracts show what elite talent demands. Tell us if the Rams overpaid for a winner.
