Wyatt’s Take

  • Sora 2 can create realistic videos in seconds using AI.
  • The tech is being used to make videos of people doing things they never did, including the deceased.
  • There aren’t real rules in place to protect regular folks from abuse.

OpenAI has launched a new app called Sora 2. With this AI tool, you just type in what you want, and out comes a life-like video—sometimes in just a few seconds.

The videos are so realistic, you’d think they were shot in Hollywood. Camera angles, facial movements, and lighting all look like the real deal.

Ever wanted to see something wild, like a dog surfing in Times Square? Sora 2 makes it look easy.

But that power can be used for the wrong reasons.

People are already making fake videos of late celebrities in bizarre situations.

JFK is deepfaked into a WWE superstar.

Tupac appears with Mr. Rogers talking about respect.

Stephen Hawking is attacked in the UFC.

Warning: Even knowing these are fake, some are disturbing to watch.

Even OpenAI’s own CEO, Sam Altman, has been shown shoplifting in a fake video. The law won’t protect families of the deceased from these AI tricks, so no one is held responsible for misusing these new powers.

Folks are also using the app to make revenge or prank clips—sometimes even pretending someone committed a crime. All you need is a photo, and anyone’s likeness can be used for anything.

While OpenAI says you should get permission to use someone’s face, there’s little to stop bad actors. If billionaires can’t keep their own images safe, what hope is there for the rest of us?

Right now, Sora 2 is invite-only and just on iPhones, but it’s only a matter of time before it spreads. The tech is moving fast, but the rules aren’t keeping up.

If you see a video online, it’s smart to question if it’s real.

Stay sharp, folks. The truth isn’t always what it looks like these days.

Wyatt Matters

Good folks across Middle America know what honest work looks like. With tools like Sora 2, it’s getting harder to tell what’s real.

We need to protect everyday people and demand accountability before this gets out of hand.
