Wyatt’s Take

  • An American man is in custody after his wife vanished during a boating trip in the Bahamas.
  • Officials launched a criminal investigation after 56-year-old Lynette Hooker went missing near Hope Town.
  • Family members say the husband’s account does not add up, and investigators are examining the vessel for evidence.

The husband claimed Lynette fell from a small dinghy on Saturday night and was swept away by strong currents.

He told authorities he couldn’t restart the motor because she had the ignition keys in her possession.

Lynette’s daughter told reporters that her mother never operated the boat and was physically fit enough to handle rough seas.

She also alleged that the husband has a history of aggressive behavior and past legal trouble.

“I’m confused why she has the keys because she never drove the dinghy,” Aylesworth said.

“It was always Brian. So the story just doesn’t add up right now.”

“I’ve seen him choke out one of his daughters before.”

“And we had to go to court for that,” she added.

“So he’s just repeating patterns.”

The U.S. Coast Guard escalated the search into a criminal probe before local police moved in to make the arrest.

Search teams continue to use drones and divers to find the missing woman near Elbow Cay.
