January 1, McCarthy warns ‘there will be a day of reckoning’ for Biden

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said “there will be a day of reckoning” for President Biden following the suicide bombing in Kabul, Afghanistan that killed 13 US troops and dozens of civilians.
“Look, I’m extremely frustrated with the president. As I said, if you want to be president of the free world, you have to have the trust, faith, and confidence of the American public. President Biden lost that,” McCarthy said.
“There will be a day of reckoning,” he added.
Some House Republicans called for Biden’s resignation on Friday. McCarthy instead said the priority should be getting Americans out of Afghanistan by the Aug. 31 deadline.
“When that day passes, you can take up anything to hold accountable for the actions that have been taken, the lies that have been given, the mis-decisions that have put Americans in harm’s way, and a decision to leave Americans behind,” he said.
