January 1, Loss of a Legend: Journalistic Titan Leaves Lasting Legacy at 78
We mourn today the loss of a stalwart of American journalism and a great patriot, the indomitable Lou Dobbs. He was 78 years old.
A statement from his official account captured the heartache felt by all who loved and respected him: “Lou Dobbs was a fighter till the very end — fighting for what mattered to him the most, God, his family, and the country. His legacy as a patriot and great American will forever live on.”
Former President Donald Trump, a friend and admirer of Dobbs, was among the first to share the somber news of his passing on Truth Social: “Lou Dobbs was not just a friend, but an incredible journalist. He understood the world, and what was happening, better than others. He was unique in so many ways, and truly loved our country. He will be greatly missed.”
Lou Dobbs was a beacon of reason and patriotism in the cable news industry, remembered fondly by colleagues as being “thoughtful,” “smart,” and always a “patriot.”
Jeff Clark, a frequent guest on Dobbs’ show, shared his condolences online, saying: “Lou Dobbs was the greatest. My deepest sympathies for the Dobbs family! We will remember him with prayer.”
Trish Regan, who co-hosted alongside Dobbs at the 2016 Republican National Convention, lauded him as a “thoughtful business journalist who challenged the traditional economic theories of the elites.” She added, “His enthusiasm for his job was infectious. He truly loved America. Rest in Peace, Lou.”
Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly paid tribute, describing Dobbs as a “smart guy,” expressing his enjoyment of their conversations, and extending his sympathy to Dobbs’ family.
The Federalist’s Sean Davis praised Dobbs’ commitment to kindness and graciousness in an industry notoriously bereft of such values. Reflecting on Dobbs’ character, Davis commented, “Yet he remained as kind as ever to the end. What a patriot.”
Dr. Robert Jeffress, a close friend of Dobbs’, shared on Twitter the loss of a “great and godly man.” He conveyed the impact of Dobbs’ Friday night segments, and how they were the highlight of his week.
Dobbs’ illustrious career spanned over four decades in cable news, joining CNN as a host in 1980, and subsequently hosting the popular “Lou Dobbs Tonight” on Fox Business Channel from 2011 to 2021. His passionate reporting and unflagging patriotism will be sorely missed by our nation.
