January 1, Los Angeles Mayor’s SHOCKING Claim About Homeless Drug Use Sparks Fury

Wyatt’s Take

  • Liberal LA mayor claims homeless use meth ‘for protection’ — you can’t make this stuff up
  • Typical Democrat playbook: make excuses for lawlessness instead of solving the crisis they created
  • While working families struggle with crime and filth, Bass defends drug addicts destroying neighborhoods

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is under fire after making jaw-dropping comments defending drug use among the city’s massive homeless population. The Democrat mayor suggested that people living on the streets use dangerous drugs like methamphetamine to “stay awake for protection.”

The remarks have sparked outrage across the city and beyond. Critics are calling out Bass for making excuses instead of addressing the root causes of LA’s spiraling homeless crisis.

Los Angeles has become ground zero for the West Coast’s homeless disaster. Tent encampments line city streets, needles litter playgrounds, and working families can’t walk downtown without fear. And now their mayor is defending the drug use fueling the chaos.

This is classic Democrat governance. Instead of cracking down on crime, enforcing laws, and getting people the help they actually need, Bass is rationalizing destructive behavior. Families trying to raise kids and run businesses don’t want excuses — they want solutions.

The backlash has been swift. Residents who’ve watched their neighborhoods deteriorate aren’t buying the mayor’s spin. They’ve seen property values tank, businesses flee, and public spaces become unusable while city hall lectures them about compassion.

Conservative critics point out that this approach has failed for decades. California’s permissive policies on drugs and homelessness have only made the problem worse. Yet Democrat leaders keep doubling down on the same failed strategies.

Bass’s comments come as Los Angeles continues to spend billions on homelessness with little to show for it. Audit after audit reveals waste, fraud, and programs that don’t work. Meanwhile, the encampments grow larger and the addiction crisis deepens.

Working-class Angelenos are fed up. They pay the highest taxes in the nation and get tent cities and rising crime in return. Many are voting with their feet, leaving California for states with sane governance.

Why It Matters

This isn’t about compassion versus cruelty. It’s about accountability. American families deserve leaders who enforce laws, protect public safety, and demand personal responsibility. When mayors excuse drug addiction and lawlessness, everyone suffers except the politicians insulated from the mess they create. Bass’s remarks show exactly why blue cities are collapsing while red states thrive.

WOW ! This is a poor effort and very poor attempt in controlling individuals who want free money and a continued effort to use their drugs and live life their way, Illegally! Albeit, a poor excuse – Politicians are ignorant about controlling their illegal operations via Law and Order while exploring why the state taxes continue to rise – yet the money is stuck in Politicians pockets!

If the Angelenos are fed up, why is she ahead in the primaries? I know! I know! – blatant cheating. Voters need to demand a recount. Pratt should have won 1st place in the primaries.

Agree. Demand a recount, sue for your vote not being counted for Spencer, do SOMETHING Angelinos or live in human poop every day and watch your city burn again, etc.

Excellent idea since they allow write in ballots to be counted weeks/months after an election. Make sure to register your dog to vote to, as that has happened. Pay the homeless guy near your kids school to vote for Pratt. So many techniques can be used to pay back the fraudulent election.

She’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer. In fact she should be in with the spoons.

Should bus all the homeless to her enclave/residence and let them live and shoot up there and see how she likes it. Would probably just travel back to Ghana over and over at taxpayers expense though.

You get what you pay for. California democrats keep voting the same type trash Democrat politician every election so it hard to feel sorry for them. Wake up if this is what you want Democrat rule then shut up and live with it.
As one other stated, LA had a chance for a new beginning with Spencer Pratt but with these corrupt election mail in ballot and nobody keeping and eye of the voter registry you get what you pay for. LA had a chance but as always Big money washed that chance away. Stand up and be heard stop just accepting what these politician are giving you and change how you do your elections then maybe someone would feel sorry for your stupidity. Get rid of Karen Bass and Gavin Newscum that would be a Great start.

“Homelessness” is a lifestyle choice. The billions spent on it is big business. If the problem went away there would be no billions to be siphoned off by politicians and those chosen to oversee how it is spent. There is no incentive to put an end to it.
