Wyatt’s Take

  • ICE ramped up arrests in DC after federal action in August.
  • Only 85 arrests happened before August; 1,200 followed soon after.
  • Strong cooperation between ICE and local police agencies.

ICE didn’t do much in DC early this year, making only 85 arrests before August. Things changed fast after President Trump sent in federal officers, leading to a sharp jump to 1,200 arrests by mid-September.

These increases came after close teamwork between ICE and local police. The agency has signed over 520 agreements in 35 states to allow local cops to help with immigration enforcement during routine patrols.

Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said ICE arrested gang members, kidnappers, drug traffickers, and other violent thugs.

“Criminal aliens are a public safety threat, and there should be no place for sanctuary policies that place crime over the community.”

The Department of Homeland Security hasn’t said how many of those arrested were accused of other crimes.

If you want hardworking families to feel safer in their towns, it’s clear strong enforcement makes a real difference. Stick around for more updates on what matters in your community.
