January 1, House Covid Subcommittee Investigates Startling Allegations Against the CIA

The House Covid Subcommittee has pivoted its focus sharply towards the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the wake of startling allegations from a “highly credible” whistleblower. This individual has claimed that the CIA provided financial incentives to its agents to challenge and counter the theory that the origin of Covid-19 was a laboratory in Wuhan, China.

Representative Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), a leading figure in the Subcommittee, stated in a discussion with Fox News that plans are underway to invite Andrew Makridis, previously the CIA’s chief operating officer, for a voluntary, transcribed interview. The agency will also receive a subpoena for all internal correspondences and documentation connected to the global pandemic.

According to Wenstrup, “This alleged change of mind” is believed to have been orchestrated by Makridis. The intention behind this sudden pivot remains the core of the investigation, with Wenstrup emphasizing, “We’re also seeking documents and all the communications that took place amongst this team and outside of this team.”

These shocking claims closely mirror the internal discussions between Dr. Anthony Fauci and a group of scientists. Reports suggest that initial observations leaned towards the virus having been potentially engineered in a lab. However, a subsequent report contradicted this by asserting the virus had natural origins. Wenstrup ardently posed the question, “Why was this done in the agency at CIA? And why was this done amongst these scientists led by Dr. Fauci or prompted by Dr. Fauci?”

The situation intensified on Tuesday when a joint letter, penned by Rep. Wenstrup and Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH), head of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, unveiled the whistleblower’s bombshell allegations. The letter, addressed to CIA Director William J. Burns, highlights that a “multi-decade, senior-level, current Agency officer” disclosed detailed information on the CIA’s probe into the virus’s origins.

The letter lays out that the whistleblower disclosed the formation of a “COVID Discovery Team” comprising seven agents possessing varied skills and significant scientific prowess. Notably, the whistleblower indicated that “six of the seven members of the Team believed the intelligence and science were sufficient to make a low confidence assessment that COVID-19 originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China.” The seventh, and notably the most senior member, was the sole believer in the zoonotic origin of the virus.

However, the claim that truly sends shockwaves is the whistleblower’s assertion that a “significant monetary incentive” was offered to the other six team members to shift their stance.

In response to these allegations, both lawmakers have called on the CIA to release all relevant records pertaining to the COVID Discovery Team and communications shared with other significant agencies like the FBI, State Department, Health and Human Services, and the Energy Department. A failure to comply by September 26 may result in a subpoena.
