January 1, Gaetz Slams GOP Leaders Over Leaked Audio
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) clearly took exception to the comments made by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) in the recorded phone call recently published by The New York Times.
Gaetz rebuked McCarthy and Scalise as “weak men.”
“Rep McCarthy and Rep. Scalise held views about President Trump and me that they shared on sniveling calls with Liz Cheney, not us,” Gaetz wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. “This is the behavior of weak men, not leaders.”
The Florida Republican’s statement followed a Times report that included a call with GOP leaders shortly after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, wherein they said Gaetz was “putting people in jeopardy.”
