January 1, FBI Pressed Michael Flynn ‘To Get Him to Lie’, ‘To Get Him Fired’

This Day in History | 1945

Adolf Hitler commits suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule and shooting himself in the head. Soon after, Germany unconditionally surrendered to the Allied forces, ending Hitler’s dreams of a “1,000-year” Reich.

Good morning Middle Americans,

Will the DOJ drop it’s case against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn? Documents and handwritten notes from the FBI have now been released.

And they are not a good look for the FBI. The notes seemed to indicate that agents planned to get Flynn to lie to pressure him into turning against President Trump.

President Trump has clearly been watching the story closely and the pressure is now on FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General William Barr to clean up the mess.

Also today – pressure continues to mount on Joe Biden to face down 30 year old accusations that he sexually assaulted a former staffer.

We have a link to a New York Times story that talks about growing frustration in the Democratic party and the Washington Post editorial board has called on biden to answer questions on the matter in a public fashion.

As America opens back up,  it’s apparently opening back up sooner for the political “elites”.  Former President Barack Obama went golfing last weekend.

And it was caught on camera. We have a link to the picture. Here’s the thing though, 44’s golf outing came about the same time his wife Michelle was recording PSA, warning people to stay home.

Do as we say… not as we do.

Finally, something to brighten your day a bit. Did you know that NASA is about to launch a helicopter on Mars? Even cooler the Mars chopper didn’t have a name until yesterday. And the name comes – thanks to a teenager from Alabama.

Read all about it.

FBI Discussed Interviewing Michael Flynn ‘To Get Him to Lie’ and ‘Get Him Fired,’ Handwritten Notes Show

(Fox News) – Explosive new internal FBI documents unsealed Wednesday show that top bureau officials discussed their motivations for interviewing then-national security adviser Michael Flynn in the White House in January 2017 — and openly questioned if their “goal” was “to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired.”

The handwritten notes — written by the FBI’s former head of counterintelligence Bill Priestap after a meeting with then-FBI Director James Comey and then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, Fox News is told — further suggested that agents planned in the alternative to get Flynn “to admit to breaking the Logan Act” when he spoke to then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition period.

The Logan Act is an obscure statute that has never been used in a criminal prosecution; enacted in 1799 in an era before telephones, it was intended to prevent individuals from falsely claiming to represent the United States government abroad.

Democratic Frustration Mounts as Biden Remains Silent on Sexual Assault Allegation

(NY Times) –  For more than three weeks, progressive activists and women’s rights advocates debated how to handle an allegation of sexual assault against Joseph R. Biden Jr. The conversations weren’t easy, nor were the politics: Mr. Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, faced one allegation; his opponent, President Trump, at least a dozen.

Finally, several of the women’s groups prepared a public letter that praised Mr. Biden’s work as an “outspoken champion for survivors of sexual violence” but also pushed him to address the allegation from Tara Reade, a former aide who worked in Mr. Biden’s Senate office in the early 1990s.

“Vice President Biden has the opportunity, right now, to model how to take serious allegations seriously,” the draft letter said. “The weight of our expectations matches the magnitude of the office he seeks.”

Barack Obama Goes Golfing the Day After Michelle Urged Americans to Stay Home

(PJ Media) – On Friday, two PSAs featuring former first lady Michelle Obama urging African Americans to stay home in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus were released. Prominent African American radio hosts who have nationally syndicated shows shared the PSAs.

“Hi everybody, it’s Michelle Obama. Our communities are among the hardest hit by the coronavirus, and we’ve got to do everything we can to keep each other safe,” says the former first lady in the 30-second PSA. “And that means staying home because even if we are not showing any symptoms, we can still spread the virus to others. Let’s keep each other safe by just staying home. Thank you so much and God bless.”

Meet Ingenuity & the Alabama Teen Who Named NASA’s Mars Helicopter

(Space.com) – We now know what to call the helicopter that will become the first craft to ply the skies of an alien world.

The little chopper that will launch to the Red Planet this summer with NASA’s Mars 2020 rover Perseverance finally has a name: Ingenuity, agency officials announced on April 29.

The moniker was submitted by Alabama 11th grader Vaneeza Rupani, as part of NASA’s “Name the Rover” contest for Mars 2020. “Perseverance” won that competition, of course, but agency officials dipped back into the submission pool to hang a name on the solar-powered Mars helicopter. (Its name was just “Mars Helicopter” until Wednesday.)
