January 1, Sherrill Claims Army Told Soldiers to Execute Wheelchair-Bound Fort Hood Shooter

Wyatt’s Take
- Gov. Mikie Sherrill claims the military planned to make soldiers shoot a disabled Fort Hood killer on live stream.
- The governor says the Pentagon told troops to target a man in a wheelchair, calling the idea cruel and unnecessary.
- The execution broadcast was later scrapped after the governor’s remarks drew national attention.
New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill appeared on MS NOW’s “The Weeknight” and accused the military of planning to force soldiers to execute the Fort Hood shooter while he sat in a wheelchair.
Sherrill told viewers the Pentagon intended to stream the event and give troops direct orders to fire.
“you’re going to be told, ‘shoot this guy who’s in a wheelchair’
The governor argued the plan was both unnecessary and cruel, saying no soldier should be ordered to shoot a disabled man in public.
Officials later canceled the live-stream portion of the execution after Sherrill’s comments spread online.
Critics say the governor’s remarks downplay the shooter’s crimes and turn attention away from justice for the victims.
Wyatt Matters
Heartland families expect justice to be carried out without turning executions into political theater or forcing soldiers into needless public displays.
