January 1, DHS Boosts ICE Security After Dallas Shooting
Wyatt’s Take
- The government is ramping up protection at ICE sites after a deadly Dallas shooting.
- Leaders blame hostile talk for raising the risk for ICE officers.
- The accused shooter targeted the facility out of hatred for ICE.
The Department of Homeland Security is putting stronger security at Immigration and Customs Enforcement buildings across America after a tragic attack in Dallas. Officials say a man opened fire, killing one detainee and wounding two others before taking his own life.
FBI Special Agent Joe Rothrock said the suspect, Joshua Jahn, left anti-ICE messages on ammunition used in the crime. Thankfully, no officers were hurt, but the act is being seen as a deliberate attack.
Tricia McLaughlin, a DHS assistant secretary, said threats and attacks on ICE officers have spiked more than 1,000% recently. She stated,
“For months, we’ve been warning politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about ICE law enforcement before someone was killed. This shooting must serve as a wake-up call to the far-left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences.”
McLaughlin also described other dangers agents have faced, like bomb threats and attacks on their families. She emphasized that comparing ICE to evil regimes only leads to more violence.
While the exact changes to security measures were not shared, the message is clear: ICE facilities will now get immediate, tougher protections.

Real Americans know that law enforcement needs respect and support, not reckless insults. When dangerous talk spirals into violence, it is our communities who pay the price.
