January 1, DOJ Cracks Down On California Voter Rolls

Wyatt’s Take
- Federal officials are forcing California counties to prove citizenship for over 1,300 ballots before they count them.
- Local election workers have just 48 hours to separate the suspect votes or face legal action.
- This move shows Washington finally stepping in to protect the integrity of the vote.
Federal prosecutors sent letters Friday to California county election officials demanding they verify the citizenship of more than 1,300 voters in two counties and sequester their ballots or face legal action.
The letters give registrars just 48 hours to set aside the ballots in question. Officials must confirm whether the voters are actually U.S. citizens before those ballots can be counted.
“We are taking immediate steps to ensure only eligible citizens participate in our elections,” the letter stated.
The action comes in the middle of early voting season. California counties affected by the order have not yet publicly responded to the federal demand.
“This is about restoring trust in the process,” a DOJ spokesperson explained.
Wyatt Matters
Heartland families want elections that count only the votes of American citizens. When federal officials step up to protect that basic rule, they defend the foundation of self-government that working people rely on.
