January 1, Democrat Governor’s Power Grab BACKFIRES — Now She Wants Everyone to Forget

Wyatt’s Take

  • Virginia’s Democrat governor tried rigging the electoral map in her party’s favor, but the state’s highest court shut it down as unconstitutional
  • Now that her gerrymander scheme failed, she’s suddenly telling Democrats to drop the whole redistricting issue and move on
  • Classic left-wing playbook: change the rules when you’re winning, ignore them when you lose

Virginia’s Democratic Governor Abigail Spanberger is singing a very different tune now that her partisan map-rigging scheme has blown up in her face.

After the state’s highest court ruled her endorsed gerrymander unconstitutional, Spanberger is now urging fellow Democrats to abandon redistricting efforts altogether.

In an interview published Friday, Spanberger called it “outrageously premature” for her party to focus on redrawing district lines.

That’s a convenient position to take after losing in court.

The governor had been all-in on a redistricting plan that would have given Democrats a significant advantage in future elections.

But when Virginia’s Supreme Court reviewed the maps, they found the gerrymander violated the state constitution.

Now Spanberger wants everyone to just forget the whole thing happened and move forward.

It’s the same pattern we’ve seen from the left time and again: push for rule changes when they benefit your side, then suddenly discover principles when those changes don’t work out.

Democrats spent years complaining about redistricting when Republicans controlled state legislatures.

But the moment they got power in Virginia, they rushed to draw maps that would lock in their advantage for a decade.

The courts saw through it, and now Virginia Democrats are left empty-handed after their power grab failed.

Spanberger’s about-face shows exactly how seriously the left takes election integrity.

It only matters when it helps them win.

Wyatt Matters

This is why hardworking Americans don’t trust politicians who talk about fairness while rigging the system. When the rules don’t work in their favor, suddenly those rules don’t matter anymore. Virginia families deserve better than leaders who only believe in democracy when they’re winning.
