January 1, Dangerous Heavy Metals Found in Hershey’s Chocolate
A consumer has filed a lawsuit against Hershey Co. over selling dark chocolate bars that allegedly contain dangerous heavy metals.
According to the proposed class action lawsuit filed last week, Christopher Lazazzaro claims that he wouldn’t have purchased or would’ve paid less for Hershey’s Special Dark Mildly Sweet Chocolate, Lily’s Extra Dark Chocolate 70% Cocoa and Lily’s Extreme Dark Chocolate 85% Cocoa if the manufacturer had disclosed that the products contained harmful levels of lead and cadmium.
Lazazzaro, who resides in Nassau County, New York, sued shortly after Consumer Reports (CR) published the results of its testing of 28 different dark chocolate products. CR found that dark chocolate, once thought of as a “healthier” choice, has a dark side.
CR found lead and cadmium in all 28 bars. “For 23 of the bars, eating just an ounce a day would put an adult over a level that public health authorities and CR’s experts say may be harmful for at least one of those heavy metals. Five of the bars were above those levels for both cadmium and lead,” according to the report.
Hershey’s Special Dark bar and Lily’s 70% bar were high in lead, and Lily’s 85% bar was high in lead and cadmium, the report said.
Lazazzaro said reasonable consumers — who rely on Hershey to be truthful about the ingredients in its products — would be put off by such levels because of the “serious health risk.”
The lawsuit seeks at least $5 million of damages, including at least $500 per transaction as dictated under New York state law.

I have noticed Lots of kids candys are being subject to metals in there candy now days!( Ring Pops) just changed there formula using
“Titanium dioxide” is one of the materials added inthe past few months, yes there are plant type but the ones being used is
genetically modified just like MSG use to be from beets now it to is genetically modified.
