Wyatt’s Take

  • A Navy vet’s fight for justice inspires a new memoir.
  • His battles reached from war zones to the courtroom.
  • The book promises a real look at secret American missions.

Zachary Young, a Navy veteran with CIA training, beat a major network in court after they wronged him. Now he’s sharing his story with the help of “American Sniper” co-author Scott McEwen in a new book, “American Spy.”

Young was accused by the network of making money unlawfully while helping people escape Afghanistan during the chaotic 2021 withdrawal. At trial, he explained his advanced training and risky work tactics, proving his dedication and honor.

“This book pulls back the curtain on a world most people never see,” McEwen said.

“[Young] lived the life that movies are made from. He operated in places where there are no second chances and where the decisions you make determine who lives and who does not. His story is raw, real, and impossible to forget,” McEwen added.

The memoir tells how Young operated undercover around the globe, revealing the hidden side of American operations. It traces his path from early days to high-risk missions, showing what it takes to protect fellow Americans.

Earlier this year, a jury awarded Young $5 million, agreeing he lost earnings and suffered serious harm from the network’s attacks. Jurors considered even higher damages before a settlement was reached, though the details stayed private.

One juror said the panel was “willing to go as high as $100 million, somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 million to $100 million.” The publisher plans to release the book in 2026.

The network admits it has learned from the case and claims to support honest reporting.

Folks who want the truth about what really happened shouldn’t miss this memoir.
