Biden Under Scrutiny From New Republican Website

Published

The Republican National Committee (RNC) has launched a new website called factcheckbiden.com aimed at fact-checking President Joe Biden’s statements ahead of his 2024 campaign launch.

The RNC intends to hold President Biden accountable for what they perceive to be lies or false statements made by him and his administration.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel stated that “[Biden] lies about the damage that he’s done to our country. Whether it’s claiming that the border is secure, that our economy is strong, or that the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan was a success, Biden and his administration refuse to acknowledge the truth.”

The website is part of the RNC Research and Rapid Response apparatus and will operate by monitoring Biden’s statements during official and campaign events.

Currently, the website features several examples of statements made by Biden that the RNC has flagged as fake or made-up stories.

One example highlights Biden’s statement at the Ebenezer Baptist Church earlier this year, claiming that he marched in the civil rights movement. In the fact-checked remark, Biden described himself as a “22-year-old kid on the east side in the civil rights movement.”

The website will also monitor Biden’s pledge not to increase taxes on people earning under $400,000.

The RNC cited a Joint Committee on Taxation assessment suggesting that the Inflation Reduction Act he championed would gather “at least half of all new tax revenue” from those earning under $400,000.

The launch of the website comes as numerous reports suggest that Biden is eyeing a re-election launch as early as this week.

Should he enter the race this week, he would be the front-runner on the Democratic side. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump is leading on the Republican side, setting the stage for a possible rematch.
