January 1, Senate Republicans Just Handed Biden SHOCKING War Powers Win

Wyatt’s Take

  • Senate just passed a toothless Iran resolution that changes absolutely nothing about Biden’s military power
  • The measure blocks ground troops but leaves all the real firepower — airstrikes, drones, missiles — completely untouched
  • Republicans talk tough on restraining Biden but then fold when it actually matters

The Senate just passed what’s being called a “war powers resolution” on Iran, and it’s about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. The measure supposedly limits President Biden’s ability to wage war, but here’s the kicker — it only stops him from sending ground troops while leaving every other military option wide open.

That means airstrikes, drone attacks, missile launches, and naval operations are all still on the table. So basically, Biden can keep doing exactly what he’s been doing.

The resolution passed with bipartisan support, which should’ve been the first red flag. When both parties agree in Washington, you know something’s off. Senators from both sides lined up to pat themselves on the back for “restraining” presidential war powers, but the fine print tells a different story.

“The president cannot continue this war of choice,” one senator declared during floor debate.

Except he can. And he will. Because this resolution doesn’t actually stop anything that matters.

The measure blocks the deployment of ground forces into Iran without congressional approval. That sounds significant until you realize modern warfare doesn’t require boots on the ground anymore. We’ve got drones that can strike from thousands of miles away, naval assets positioned throughout the region, and an air force that can reach any target in the Middle East within hours.

Ground troops are the old playbook. This resolution is fighting the last war while giving Biden a free pass on the current one.

Conservative senators who voted for this are already catching heat from their base, and rightfully so. Voters sent them to Washington to actually constrain executive overreach, not to pass symbolic gestures that look good in press releases but accomplish nothing in practice.

The timing is particularly suspicious. Tensions with Iran have been escalating for months, with proxy attacks on American forces and shipping throughout the region. The administration has responded with limited strikes, but there’s been growing pressure for a more aggressive posture.

This resolution gives cover to senators who want to appear anti-war without actually tying the president’s hands. They can tell constituents they voted to limit military action while privately knowing it changes nothing about current operations.

It’s the Washington two-step at its finest.

Meanwhile, American service members remain deployed across the Middle East, sitting ducks for Iranian-backed militias who face little consequence for their attacks. Our troops deserve better than political theater from their elected representatives.

The real question is why Republicans would support something this weak. If you’re going to challenge presidential war powers, actually challenge them. Require congressional approval for any military action, not just the kind nobody’s planning to use anyway.

But that would require courage, and courage is in short supply in the Senate these days.

Wyatt Matters

Working families send their sons and daughters to serve this country, and they deserve a government that takes war seriously — not one that plays political games with national security. When Washington passes measures with no real teeth, it’s our troops and our taxpayers who pay the price. This resolution changes nothing except giving politicians cover, and Middle America sees right through it.

This is a major reason why this outlet has little credibility. How can you
repeat Biden’s name in this piece of junk journalism. It’s sloppy and embarrassing.

I’ve noticed on several things you have published lately that you refer to Biden. I’m still trying to figure out if you’re reposting something that happened years ago or whether you don’t know who the current president is.
