January 1, Biden to mandate vaccines for all nursing home staff
The White House will soon require COVID-19 vaccines for all nursing home staff; otherwise, their facilities will lose federal Medicare and Medicaid funding.
The move comes as the Biden administration continues to seek ways to bolster the amount of vaccinated Americans. Federal data shows that thousands of nursing home employees are not vaccinated, despite being eligible for the vaccine before much of the population.
President Biden has forced the hands of millions of federal workers to confirm their vaccination status or face burdensome requirements, and his administration is mandating vaccines for the military as soon as next month.
The White House says the rate of new vaccinations in the US has almost doubled in the past month. Over 200 million Americans received at least one dose.
