Wyatt’s Take

  • Phony support tickets trick even careful users
  • Real Apple emails make scam extra convincing
  • Simple steps can protect your account

A new scam is fooling Apple users by using real support tickets to steal their accounts. It nearly happened to Eric Moret, who shared his story about how convincing the attack was.

The crooks abused Apple’s system to make victims trust them. They opened genuine support tickets, so the emails appeared real and official, building trust right away.

Moret was hit with alerts and calls from fake agents claiming to help. The callers guided him carefully, even giving a fake web link that looked just like an Apple site.

“They opened a real Apple Support case in his name, which triggered official emails from an Apple domain. This built instant trust and lowered Moret’s guard.”

The scammers got a code from Moret and used it to get into his account. He saw an unknown device sign in and realized the trick, resetting his password and locking them out.

You can avoid this by checking any support case through the Apple website or Support app. Hang up on callers and contact Apple directly if you’re suspicious. Never share verification codes, and watch out for weird-looking website links.

Using good antivirus programs and a data removal service can help stop these kinds of attacks before they happen. Protecting your personal info makes it harder for scammers to target you.

Be careful, check every message, and always double-check before sharing anything.
