January 1, Legislators demand answers from Fauci on ‘cruel’ experiments on beagle puppies

A bipartisan group of House members penned a letter to Dr. Anthony Fauci demanding answers over reports of “cruel” experiments on beagle puppies.

The nonprofit organization White Coat Waste Project claims that Fauci’s National Institutes of Health (NIH) division infected 44 beagle puppies with parasites to test an experimental drug.

“Our investigators show that Fauci’s NIH division shipped part of a $375,800 grant to a lab in Tunisia to drug beagles and lock their heads in mesh cages filled with hungry sand flies so that the insects could eat them alive,” White Coat Waste said. “They also locked beagles alone in cages in the desert overnight for nine consecutive nights to use them as bait to attract infectious sand flies.”

The White Coat Waste Project claims some of the beagles had their vocal cords removed so researchers could work without constant barking.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) is leading the effort, describing the cordectomies in the letter to the NIH as “cruel” and a “reprehensible misuse of taxpayer funds.”

Mace’s letter was signed by Reps. Cindy Axne (D-IA), Cliff Bentz (R-OR), Steve Cohen (D-TN), Rick Crawford (R-AK), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Scott Franklin (R-FL), Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), Jimmy Gomez (D-CA), Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Fred Keller (R-PA), Ted Lieu (D-CA), Lisa McClain (R-MI), Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), Brian Mast (R-FL), Scott Perry (R-PA), Bill Posey (R-FL), Mike Quigley (D-IL), Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA), Maria E. Salazar (R-FL), Terri Sewell (D-AL), Daniel Webster (R-FL), and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC).

Fauci is President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

The nonprofit organization claims the Food and Drug Administration doesn’t require animal testing, so the group asks for answers as to why such testing is needed.
