Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump floated the idea of making Venezuela the 51st state, and the socialist regime in Caracas is suddenly paying attention
  • Venezuela’s vice president rushed to respond, claiming ‘we love our independence’ — funny how that works when American power comes knocking
  • This bold move shows Trump’s willingness to think outside the box while the left melts down over American strength

President Donald Trump just threw a curveball that has the socialist regime in Venezuela scrambling for a response. During recent remarks, Trump revealed he’s “seriously considering” making Venezuela the 51st state of the United States.

The proposal immediately sent shockwaves through Caracas, where the Maduro regime has spent years cozying up to our enemies and destroying what was once Latin America’s wealthiest nation. Now they’re suddenly worried about American attention.

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez felt compelled to respond to Trump’s comments, and her words revealed just how rattled the regime has become.

“We love our independence,” Rodriguez declared, attempting to dismiss the idea while clearly taking it seriously enough to address publicly.

The irony is thick here. Venezuela claims to love independence while their failed socialist experiment has left millions of citizens fleeing the country and seeking refuge in places like — you guessed it — the United States. Their “independence” has produced food shortages, hyperinflation, and a complete collapse of basic services.

Trump’s willingness to float unconventional ideas drives the establishment crazy, but it’s exactly this kind of thinking that keeps America’s adversaries off balance. While career politicians hem and haw about diplomatic niceties, Trump speaks plainly about American interests and power projection.

The Venezuelan regime understands strength when they see it. That’s why Rodriguez felt the need to respond at all instead of ignoring what some might dismiss as an offhand remark. They know Trump doesn’t make idle threats or empty suggestions.

Venezuela sits on some of the world’s largest oil reserves, resources that have been squandered under decades of socialist mismanagement. Meanwhile, ordinary Venezuelans suffer while regime cronies live in luxury and funnel billions to our geopolitical opponents.

The idea of Venezuelan statehood may seem far-fetched, but it’s already accomplished Trump’s likely objective: reminding the Maduro regime that American power and influence in our own hemisphere isn’t something they can simply ignore.

Rodriguez can talk all she wants about loving independence. The reality is that Venezuela’s current “independence” means dependence on China, Russia, and Iran — hardly the company a legitimate government would keep. Their independence has meant misery for regular Venezuelans and instability for the entire region.

Trump’s comments put the Venezuelan regime on notice that business as usual — harboring terrorists, partnering with our enemies, and sending millions of refugees across our southern border — won’t be tolerated indefinitely.

Wyatt Matters

This is about more than Venezuela. It’s about reminding the world that American power in our own backyard isn’t negotiable. While the foreign policy establishment clutches its pearls, regular Americans understand that projecting strength keeps our enemies in check and our nation safe. That kind of bold thinking is exactly what Middle America voted for.
