Wyatt’s Take

  • Nearly 30 years after a California college student disappeared, human remains just turned up outside her convicted killer’s mother’s house
  • This discovery comes after the killer’s family stonewalled investigators and hid evidence for decades — typical elite protection of their own
  • Justice delayed is justice denied, but families deserve answers no matter how long it takes

Law enforcement officials in San Luis Obispo County have made a shocking discovery outside the home of a convicted murderer’s mother — nearly three decades after 19-year-old Kristin Smart vanished from the California Polytechnic State University campus.

The human remains were found on property connected to the family of the man already convicted of killing Smart back in 1996. Investigators descended on the location as part of the long-running case that has haunted the Central California community for a generation.

Smart disappeared in May 1996 after attending an off-campus party at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She was last seen in the early morning hours being walked back toward her dormitory.

Her body was never found — until now, potentially. The discovery marks a major development in a case where the victim’s family fought for decades just to get authorities to take their daughter’s disappearance seriously.

The convicted killer’s family faced accusations of obstruction throughout the investigation. Critics say they protected their son while a grieving family desperately searched for answers about what happened to their daughter.

This kind of decades-long cover-up shows exactly what’s wrong with how connected families can manipulate the system. While working-class Americans face the full force of the law immediately, the well-connected can delay and obstruct for years.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the remains are those of Kristin Smart. DNA testing and forensic analysis will be conducted to determine identity.

The Smart family endured nearly 25 years before their daughter’s killer was even brought to trial. That conviction came only after relentless pressure from the family and renewed investigative efforts.

Why It Matters

Every family deserves justice when their loved one is taken from them. This case shows that persistence matters, that truth eventually comes to light, and that no amount of family connections should shield criminals from accountability. Middle America understands that the powerful shouldn’t get special treatment — justice must be blind, whether it takes 3 months or 30 years.

Don’t know much about this case, but this is a very important case….to the family of the deceased.

Look at the criminal corruption of Comey, the Clintons, the Pelosi family, Bill Gates, the majority of the Biden administration, and the list goes on. All ‘above the law’ and still walking free. In most cases it has more to do with the fecklessness of republicans and officials to actually do their job.

Why is there no mention of who these people are?
