Good Morning Middle Americans,
When was the last time you paid this much attention to the Post Office. If you live in rural America, don’t answer that question. We know how important the Post Office is to rural America and fly over country. But if you live in a major city or even the suburbs, mail might not matter that much to you Maybe you pay your bill entirely on-line, or you’ve come to rely on Amazon for everything in your pantry. But there is a big disparity between rural and the rest of America when it comes to how much communities rely on the USPS. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is thinking about calling Congress back early from their recess to deal with this issue. This week the Democratic National Convention is supposed to be THE event. But the concern over the Post Office and mail-in voting will certainly take center stage. This while president Trump made a lot of people nervous when the country will know the results of the November presidential election, and the president responded with a warning that it could take “months” or even “years.”
Also today, we have a story about Dr. Anthony Fauci who recently said “there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do that.” The “that” Fauci is talking about is voting in person.
Finally today. President Trump’s younger brother, whose daughter wrote a tell all book about the Trump Organization (that was relevant or about 15 mins.) has died.

Pelosi Calls Trump Attacks on Mail-in Voting a ‘Domestic Assault on Our Constitution’
(The Hill) – Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday that President Trump‘s attempts to sow doubts about mail-in ballots amounted to a “domestic assault on our Constitution.”
“We take an oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. The actions this administration are taking vis-a-vis our voting system, our sacred right to vote, are a domestic assault on our Constitution,” Pelosi said in an interview on MSNBC.
Pelosi encouraged Americans choosing to vote by mail instead of risking potential exposure at a polling place to cast their ballots sooner rather than later.

Trump Says it Could take ‘Months’ or ‘Years’ to Know Election Results
(NBC News) – President Donald Trump raised alarm Saturday as to when the country will know the results of the November presidential election, warning that it could take “months” or even “years.”
“Usually at the end of the evening, they say ‘Donald Trump has won the election, Donald Trump is your new president,'” Trump said during a press conference at his Bedminster, New Jersey, resort.
“You know what? You’re not going to know this — possibly, if you really did it right — for months or for years. Because these ballots are all going to be lost, they’re all going to be gone,” Trump said, repeating false claims about vote-by-mail ballots.
Trump said that the U.S. Postal Service did not have enough resources to collect the expected increase in mail-in ballots for year’s election, and it was the fault of Democrats that the agency continued to be underfunded.
“They want a trillion dollars to bailout sates … badly run Democrat states,” Trump said of Democratic lawmakers. “They’re not giving the money to the post office.”
Democrats for months have called for more funding for the USPS as well as funding to make sure states have the resources needed to prepare for an election amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Fauci: There’s No Reason People Can’t Vote Safely in Person
(Town Hall) – One of the most highly contentious issues of the 2020 presidential cycle is whether it will be safe for Americans to vote in person on November 3, 2020.
For weeks Democrats have held up crucial Wuhan coronavirus relieve packages while demanding billions of dollars for the Post Office in order to bolster mass mail in voting. In California, a state without voter identification laws and outdated registration records, Governor Gavin Newsom plans to mail every registered voter a ballot ahead of election day. Recent elections in New York, New Jersey and West Virginia have proven mass mail in voting schemes lead to fraud and extremely delayed results.
But according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, an original member of President Trump’s Wuhan Coronavirus Taskforce, voting in person can be done safely.
“What about voting? So many people are concerned. We are in an election year. Some people are going to be heading to the polls in the next few weeks, can people go out and vote in person given there is so much concern about the vote?” ABC News’ Deborah Roberts asked Fauci during a recent interview.
“I think if carefully done according to the guidelines, there’s no reason I can see that not being the case. For example, when you look at going to a grocery stores now in regions and counties and cities that are doing it correctly, they have x’s every six or more feet and it says don’t leave this spot until the person in front of you left their spot, and you can do that. If you go and wear a mask, if you observe the physical distance and don’t have a crowded situation, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do that,” Fauci said. “There’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to vote in person.”

President Trump’s Younger Brother, dead at 71
(NY Post) – Robert Trump, President Trump’s younger brother, who served as a top executive at the Trump Organization, has died. He was 71.
Robert’s death on Saturday comes a day after he was hospitalized in New York Friday. In June, he spent more than a week in the intensive care unit at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Robert took blood thinners, and had suffered brain bleeds since a recent fall, a close friend to the family told The New York Times.
“It is with heavy heart that I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight,” the president said in a statement.
“He was not just my brother, he was my best friend,” he went on. “He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever.
“Robert, I love you. Rest in peace.”
