January 1, Giants Rookie Does Something INSANE With Surgically Repaired Leg

Wyatt’s Take
- Giants running back Cam Skattebo nearly gave fans a heart attack with a WWE-style backflip on his surgically repaired leg
- The Arizona State product showed up at Fanatics Fest and decided common sense was optional
- This is what happens when young athletes think they’re invincible — and why coaches need bubble wrap on standby
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo just did something that made every fan watching grab their chest in panic. The rookie out of Arizona State had his great first season cut short by a serious leg injury.
He’s supposed to be recovering. But if he keeps pulling stunts like he did at Fanatics Fest on Saturday, he’ll be right back on injured reserve.
Skattebo showed up at WWE’s Fanatics Fest activation where fans could walk out like their favorite wrestlers. He picked Triple H and came out to the legendary Motörhead entrance music.
Instead of doing the classic water spray like Triple H used to do, Skattebo went rogue. He pointed at his bum leg — the one that was just surgically repaired — and then launched into a full backflip.
Every Giants fan watching probably let out a yelp when they saw how his right leg twisted on the landing. That’s his running leg. The one he needs to do his actual job.
The kid’s got confidence, you have to give him that. At some point during the day he also kicked a field goal with his left foot. Not bad for a running back.
But you can bet the Giants front office is having some very uncomfortable conversations right now. No NFL team expects to tell a player fresh off major leg surgery that backflips at WWE events are a bad idea.
That should be common sense. But here we are.
Skattebo’s got personality and he’s clearly fearless. Those are good traits for a football player. But maybe save the acrobatics for after your leg is actually healed.
Wyatt Matters
This is a kid with talent who needs someone to tell him to slow down and think. The Giants invested in him. Fans want to see him succeed on the field, not blow out his knee doing stunts for social media clicks. Sometimes the toughest guy in the room is the one who knows when to sit down and let his body heal. That’s not weakness. That’s wisdom.
