Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump announced he’s nominating his acting AG for the permanent job — bypassing the swamp’s usual games
  • The acting chief stepped up after the previous AG was fired in April, proving his loyalty when it mattered
  • This move signals Trump’s determination to finally get someone he trusts running federal law enforcement

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday evening that he plans to nominate acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to permanently lead the Department of Justice. The announcement came during a Rose Garden Club Dinner at the White House, captured on video by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino.

Blanche assumed the role on an interim basis following former Attorney General Pam Bondi’s firing in early April. Now Trump is making it official.

“Tomorrow I’m instructing Dan [Scavino] and everybody else that’s involved in that very complicated process, which is gonna go, I think, very quickly, that we are going to make him permanent Attorney General,” Trump said.

The president’s confidence in a quick confirmation process suggests he believes Blanche has the support needed to sail through Senate approval. After months of interim leadership at Justice, Trump is moving to install his pick permanently at the helm of federal law enforcement.

Blanche’s nomination represents Trump’s latest effort to reshape the Justice Department leadership after a tumultuous period that saw Bondi’s departure. The acting AG has been managing the department during a critical time as Trump’s administration pursues its law enforcement priorities.

The nomination will now head to the Senate for confirmation hearings and a vote. Trump’s statement indicates he expects the process to move swiftly, signaling potential Republican support for the nomination.

Why It Matters

Working Americans have watched for years as the Justice Department seemed more interested in targeting conservatives than enforcing the law fairly. Trump’s choice signals he wants someone loyal running the show — not another bureaucrat playing politics while crime runs wild in our cities and our border stays wide open.
