January 1, Top Democrat Cracks: Bombshell Admission About Maine Senate Scandal

Wyatt’s Take
- Even Cory Booker can’t defend this trainwreck — a sitting Democratic Senator just threw his own party’s candidate under the bus on national TV
- Graham Platner’s scandal pile keeps growing: explicit texts to six women while married, Nazi-linked tattoo, disgusting Reddit posts about wounded soldiers and sexual assault
- Democrats are desperate to retake the Senate but their Maine candidate is a walking disaster — and now their own leaders are admitting it on camera
A sitting Democratic U.S. Senator just publicly admitted what everyone already knew: the Maine Senate candidate his party is backing has serious problems. Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey couldn’t dodge the question when pressed on ABC’s “This Week” about Graham Platner’s latest scandal — explicit text messages sent to at least six women while he was married.
When host Jonathan Karl asked Booker point-blank whether he had concerns about all these controversies threatening the Democrats’ chances to flip that Maine Senate seat, Booker gave an answer that should terrify the Democratic establishment.
“Yes, I have concerns,” Booker said.
“That guy has questions to answer, and that’s what campaigns are for.”
Translation: even Democrats know Platner is damaged goods. But Booker quickly pivoted to what really matters to the party — raw political power.
“I know that so much is riding on Democrats taking control of the Senate,” Booker said.
“That this election, if we do not get the votes necessary to take care of the House and the Senate, we will continue to have an out-of-control president.”
There it is. Democrats will hold their noses and back a scandal-ridden candidate because they’re so desperate to stop President Trump. Party over principles, power over character — the Democratic playbook in a nutshell.
The explicit text scandal broke after Politico confirmed that Platner’s own wife, Amy Gertner, had told a campaign aide about the messages after he launched his Senate bid. They were doing opposition research on their own candidate, looking for political liabilities. Imagine what that conversation was like.
Gertner then released a bizarre five-minute video defending her husband, attacking the media instead of addressing the actual behavior.
“So it makes me really angry, disappointed, and I find it really shameful that there’s a group of media outlets and people who are willing to spread gossip, instead of talking about real issues that Graham is running on — like healthcare and education and childcare,” Gertner said.
Classic deflection. When you can’t defend the actions, attack the messengers. But these aren’t gossip — they’re documented facts about a man seeking public office.
And the explicit texts are just the latest controversy in what’s becoming a bottomless pit of scandal. Platner previously faced backlash for a tattoo that resembled a Nazi symbol — which he later covered up. He also made disgusting comments on Reddit minimizing sexual assault, crude remarks about masturbation, and even deleted a post where he claimed a wounded soldier “didn’t deserve to live.”
Read that again: this Democratic Senate candidate once wrote that a wounded American soldier didn’t deserve to live. And his party is still backing him because they need that Senate seat.
The fact that Cory Booker — one of the most loyal Democratic soldiers in Washington — is now publicly admitting “concerns” shows just how bad this situation has gotten. When your own teammates start breaking ranks on national television, your campaign is in free fall.
Maine voters deserve better than this. They deserve a candidate who respects his marriage vows, respects our veterans, and doesn’t have a track record of vile online comments. But the Democratic Party has made its calculation: winning that Senate seat matters more than the character of the person filling it.
Wyatt Matters
This is everything wrong with modern politics wrapped up in one disgraceful campaign. The elites in both parties talk about “defending our values” and “restoring dignity,” but when it comes down to it, they’ll back anyone who can help them grab power. Ordinary Americans see right through it. We’re tired of being told to vote for flawed candidates because the other side is worse. We’re tired of political parties that care more about winning elections than earning our trust. Maine families sitting around their kitchen tables tonight know exactly what this is — another example of Washington insiders thinking we’re too stupid to notice their hypocrisy.
