Four women have come forward to accuse Utah Democrat Eva Lopez Chavez of aggressive and unwanted sexual advances. The allegations include claims that Chavez physically restrained women while demanding sexual favors.

Three of the accusers are elected officials who serve alongside Chavez in the state and city government. They describe a disturbing pattern of behavior where the candidate used her position to corner other women.

  • Salt Lake City Councilwoman Victoria Petro says she was pushed against a wall by Chavez during a 2022 event.
  • State Representative Hoang Nguyen claims Chavez held her shoulders down and refused to let her go until she provided a kiss.
  • State Senator Jen Plumb reports being cornered and questioned about her sexual orientation during a similar encounter.

A fourth woman, Maggie Regier, says Chavez had to be physically pulled off her by a friend during a 2019 fundraiser.

Chavez has denied the allegations through her attorney and offered to take a polygraph test.

“If a man had done that to me, would there be a question if it was assault or not?”

Councilwoman Victoria Petro asked this while describing her encounter with the Democrat candidate.

Chavez has previously described herself as a pioneer for her community, but her colleagues say her behavior is unacceptable.
