January 1, Popular Italian-American Restaurant Files for Chapter 11
Buca di Beppo, a popular Italian-American restaurant chain, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, as per the documents filed in Dallas’ U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The reasons behind this financially strained decision include the escalating costs of food and labor, coupled with daunting staffing issues. The restaurant has reported assets worth between $10 million and $50 million, while its liabilities are estimated to a hefty sum of around $50 million to $100 million.
Despite the downfall, the company isn’t planning on giving up just yet. With 44 primary locations earmarked for restructuring and an additional one in the pipeline, the restaurant chain is optimistic about its future. Previously, the company had to close down 12 of its outlets due to mounting difficulties, as reported by Reuters.
“This is a step in the right direction for Buca di Beppo,” affirmed Rich Saultz, the President of the chain. He emphasized that despite the restaurant industry bracing severe challenges, this decision is crucial for their brand’s revival. He said, “By restructuring, we can pave the way for a better future thanks to the continued support from our lenders.”
The DVD Kiosk owner Redbox, and home goods retailer Conn’s are other known names that have also filed for bankruptcy recently. Conn’s has announced the closure of more than 70 of its stores.
The loyal patrons of Buca di Beppo can still enjoy their favorite family-style Italian cuisines at the restaurant’s existing locations while it undergoes the bankruptcy process. William Snyder, the Chief Restructuring Officer, assured that all 44 locations are up and running with no interruptions in the operations. “We’re looking forward to moving through this process expeditiously and emerge as a more robust organization tailored for the future.”
The company also vowed to honor all gift cards, reservations, and promotional services.
The restaurant chain has appealed to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas to manage its bankruptcy proceedings simultaneously with some other associated entities.
Buca di Beppo’s bankruptcy filing is the latest in a string of similar cases within the restaurant industry this year, including Tijuana Flats, Red Lobster, and Rubio’s Coastal Grill who’ve all embarked on Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, having closed multiple locations prior.

IT WAS AWFUL HOW THE KAMALA GROUPIE GOVERNOR JOSH SHAPIRO TURNED HIS BACK ON THE ITALIAN POPULATION OF PENNSYLVANIA WHEN A MAJOR PENNSYLVANIA NEWS ORGANIZATION (COMCAST OF PHILADELPHIA) WAS CITED FOR HATE SPEECH AGAINST ITALIANS. THEY USED THE ETHNIC SLUR “MEATBALL” AGAINST GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS WHICH IS ABOUT AS BAD FOR ITALIANS AS THE N-WORD IS FOR BLACK PEOPLE – CONSIDERED VERY (!) NOT NICE, ESPECIALLY TO USE ON A TELEVISION NEWS SHOW (the Alex Wagner Show 5/10/2024 owned and broadcast by Comcast of Philadelphia). KAMALA GROUPIE GOVERNOR JOSH SHAPIRO DID NOT CARE – WOULD NOT LET THE ITALIAN-AMERICAN POPULATION HAVE THE PROTECTION OF THE LAW THEY ARE ENTITLED TO, UNDER THE HATE CRIME STATUTES. SHAPIRO DID NOT EVEN CARE. SLEAZY LAWYER JERK.
