January 1, NBA Star’s DELUSIONAL Response After Getting Swept Has Fans Stunned

Wyatt’s Take
- James Harden just got swept 4-0 by the Knicks and still claimed his team was better — the kind of denial that’s ruining pro sports.
- This is what happens when multi-millionaire athletes get coddled: they can’t even admit defeat when it’s staring them in the face.
- Harden’s making $42 million and delivered nothing but excuses — working Americans show more accountability in a single day.
Professional athletes making tens of millions of dollars should at least have the backbone to accept reality. After getting completely dominated by the New York Knicks in a 4-0 sweep, Cleveland Cavaliers star James Harden couldn’t bring himself to admit his team got outplayed.
The Knicks demolished the Cavaliers in Game 4 with a stunning 130-93 blowout. Harden’s performance was abysmal: just 12 points, missed all six of his 3-point attempts, turned the ball over five times, and was minus-19 on the floor. When reporters asked him how much better the Knicks were than his Cavs, his response left jaws on the floor.
“I can’t even answer that question, honestly. Yeah, it’s 4-0, but I don’t think we had a chance as far as our best shot from the standpoint of the circumstances. Obviously, they dominated us 4-0, but I don’t know if I could, necessarily, answer that question, just because, genuinely, I do feel like we are the better team. But series wise, we didn’t show it.”
Let’s be clear: Cleveland showed absolutely zero proof of that delusional statement. The team barely managed to crack 100 points twice in the entire series. They only reached triple digits in Game 1 after overtime — and that was after the Knicks came back from more than 20 points down to force extra time and win anyway.
The series wasn’t even competitive after that opening game.
Harden might be one of the highest-scoring players in NBA history, but his championship dreams have consistently crashed and burned. He’s now played 191 playoff games without winning a title, just two games behind Karl Malone’s all-time record for championship futility.
The aging superstar has a $42.3 million player option heading into the offseason, but isn’t expected to return to Cleveland. That’s right — he’ll pocket over $40 million for this season’s failure and likely walk away without taking any responsibility.
Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert at least showed some accountability in his post-series message to fans.
“We took a step ahead this spring, but we are nowhere near where we need to be. I can’t thank the fans enough for the support this year. We will dig in all summer and do everything we possibly can to take the next step. We will grind until we get there.”
Now Cleveland faces a critical offseason decision: add pieces for another championship run or tear it all down and rebuild from scratch.
Wyatt Matters
This kind of excuse-making and refusal to face facts is exactly what’s wrong with elite professional sports today. Everyday Americans work harder for a fraction of the pay and take responsibility when they fall short. Harden’s getting paid more in one season than most families will earn in ten lifetimes, yet he can’t even admit his team got beat fair and square. That disconnect between the millionaire athlete class and hardworking fans is growing wider every season — and attitudes like this are a big reason why.
