January 1, Washington, D.C. to become 51st state?

Is Washington D.C. headed for statehood? The Democrat-led House has once again voted on a bill to grant statehood to the US capital with no Republicans voting in favor. But the evenly divided Senate is not likely to make it as the 51st state. Do you know that D.C. has more people than Wyoming or Vermont?
For 2 consecutive days, India has reported the world’s highest single-day new coronavirus infections. On Friday, it reported 332,730 new cases of infections. There is also increasing concerns over new strains that are likely to be more contagious. We still need to follow safety protocols, guys.
It’s been more than a year since the pandemic was declared. Sadly, many burned out health workers are quitting. According to a poll, about 3 in 10 healthcare workers have considered leaving their profession. About 6 in 10 talk about the toll the pandemic has on their mental health while more than 50 percent are just burned out. Salute to all the front-liners across the globe.
A new survey says companies shouldn’t expect their employees to go back to the office after the pandemic. The survey reveals that 58 percent of those who work from home say they would look for a new job if they cannot work remotely. There’s a separate study that says remote work makes employees more productive.
LeBron James received intense backlash after tweeting “YOU’RE NEXT #ACCOUNTABILITY” with an hourglass emoji. The LA Lakers superstar was accused by his critics of using his millions of Twitter followers to target an Ohio, police officer involved in the shooting death of 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant. The controversial tweet has since been deleted.
DMX fans, there will be a public memorial for the rapper on Saturday, April 24th. It will be held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center but details on how tickets can be purchased have not been announced yet. The legendary rapper died on April 9 after suffering from a heart attack. He was 50.
