January 1, Trump’s Second Term Bold Moves Shake America

Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump’s new policies focused on American jobs and border security.
  • Major changes hit immigration, taxes, and foreign relations.
  • Big spending cuts and new laws mark his first year back.

President Trump’s first year in his second term brought sweeping changes to the nation’s laws and international affairs. His America First direction set a bold tone across the country.

The biggest new law, called the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, made past tax cuts permanent and gave new breaks for workers’ tips, overtime, and Social Security. More money went to the military, while tough work rules for Medicaid were put in place.

On immigration, Trump’s team enforced the law harder than ever. Illegal crossings dropped as authorities deported over 2.5 million people, while some left on their own. Border agents increased, new detention centers opened, and policies like catch and release ended.

National security moved front and center. Travel restrictions now cover more countries than before, and tougher rules on visas make it more expensive for foreign workers. A new fast-track residency card was created, but at a high price. The old green card lottery is gone.

Trump also took on the courts and Congress. His executive order cut off birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants, sparking lawsuits and a Supreme Court showdown. No ruling yet, but judges can no longer block laws nationwide, thanks to this fight.

In response to crime in big cities, Trump sent National Guard troops to restore order, but the Supreme Court blocked some deployments after Democrat leaders complained.

The president’s new department, DOGE, slashed government waste under Elon Musk’s lead, saving taxpayers billions and leading to thousands leaving federal work, most by choice with buyouts.

On his first day, Trump pardoned almost 1,600 people charged for protesting at the Capitol on Jan. 6, plus commuting sentences for several key figures.

Trump also withdrew the United States from global climate agreements, cutting off money and influence in efforts pushed by the United Nations.

America’s direction changed fast—at the border, on taxes and jobs, and in Washington’s halls of power.

These changes show just how far leadership can go when Washington finally puts regular folks first. The heartland wants honest work, strong borders, and common sense. That’s what these big shifts are all about.

I agree with President Trump on everything he has done (so far anyway).
Both of my parents were first generation Americans. All four of my grandparents were born in other countries and immigrated to the United States… legally.
My father was a US Navy veteran from WWII and The Korean War. In fact. a US Congressman even had an American Flag flown over The US Capitol building in Washington DC, on The Fourth of July for my father. He received the flag and a certificate that says:
“This is to certify that the accompanying flag was flown over the United States Capitol on July 4, 1994. At the request of the honorable Christopher Shays, member of Congress…
This flag was flown for Joseph John Trisko in recognition of his service in the United States armed forces during World War II,
    1941–45”. for his 75th birthday in 1994.
I am very proud to be an American. The Hypocrisy of the Democratic Party is staggering. They call us Nazis while suppressing free speech and targeting people IN THEIR CHURCH!! But unfortunately, the Republicans are losing “The Propaganda War”. In fact we lost it decades ago. For an entire generation now the children (who are someday going to be running this country) weren’t even taught how great this country is. In fact on the contrary; the only thing people know about Thomas Jefferson is that he owned slaves.
Now, the democrats are comparing ICE to the KKK. Neglecting to mention that the KKK was created as a violent, repressive wing of The Democratic Party, to oppress the black vote. Look up the 1924 Democratic National Convention in New York City. Here’s a hint; it was referred to as “The Klanbake”.
The sedition that is going on in Minnesota, is convenient awfully to distract from the billions of dollars of fraud allegations that are being investigated.
But it’s everywhere. In Connecticut (where I live) we have videos (plural) of people (plural) stuffing ballot boxes (again, plural) on the nightly news. No charges, no problem.
In late 2025 The Deputy State Budget Director; Konstantinos Diamantis, was convicted in Federal Court of 21 charges, including bribery, extortion, conspiracy and other offenses. Taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes for “no bid” contracts. And it’s the same story… the Governor doesn’t know anything. That’s impossible. If the governor didn’t know; then he is incompetent and should be removed from office. If he did know, he should be arrested, removed from office and if convicted sent to prison.
I can go on and on.
The Republicans need to be screaming from the top of the mountains. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!
Like I said I can go on and on and on.
    Best Regards,
    God Bless America
