January 1, Trump Slaps Heavy Tariffs On Iran Trade Partners
Wyatt’s Take
- Trump orders immediate 25% tariff on nations trading with Iran
- Move follows unrest and protests inside Iran
- Action aims to pressure Iran’s allies through tough economic measures
Trump announced a new 25% tariff on any country that does business with Iran. He said the order is already in effect and “final and conclusive.”
“Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
This decision follows weeks of unrest in Iran, where protests have led to hundreds dead and thousands detained. The exact numbers are hard to verify because of cut internet and phone access in the country.
Trump also said the U.S. military is looking at “strong options” on Iran, while keeping updated on the ongoing protests.
These new tariffs show America’s resolve to bring more pressure on Iran and anyone backing them.
