  • Trump’s Truth Social remarks after Rob Reiner’s death drew fire from both parties.
  • Republicans said the tragedy shouldn’t be political; Democrats called the comments offensive.
  • Even some Hollywood voices weighed in against the post.

Former President Trump is facing pushback from Republicans and Democrats alike after his Truth Social post about the passing of director Rob Reiner and his wife. Trump called Reiner’s death a result of “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” which many say was insensitive given the circumstances.

Five GOP House members—Thomas Massie, Don Bacon, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Mike Lawler, and Stephanie Bice—spoke out against Trump’s words, urging people to put politics aside during a family tragedy.

“Regardless of how you felt about Rob Reiner, this is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered,” wrote Massie on X.

Rep. Greene and Bice echoed calls to keep the tragedy away from politics, while Bacon labeled the post “not presidential.” Lawler simply said the Reiner family should be shown sympathy.

On the other side, Democrats like Senator Chris Murphy and Senator Chuck Schumer condemned the remarks. Schumer said Trump “knows no shame,” and Governor Kathy Hochul said the post was a mistake.

“His and his wife’s lives were tragically stolen, and their loved ones deserve our condolences, not this insulting filth from Donald Trump,” Hochul posted.

Actor Patrick Schwarzenegger also spoke out, calling Trump’s post “a disgusting and vile statement.” Other former presidents gave their respects for Reiner, but the White House stayed silent on the matter.

I have been a Trump supporter for many years and have made excuses for many of his off the wall comments, but his comments about Rob Reiner were impossible to condone.

Trump is exactly the disgusting human being he exhibits. He is someone we all should be offended by. I can’t believe this idiot is our President.
