January 1, Left Shows Borders Matter When It Suits Them

Wyatt’s Take

  • Protesters who claim to hate borders set up their own boundaries when it benefits them.
  • When personal safety is threatened, even celebrities want strong enforcement.
  • Opposition to America’s borders is not about principle—it’s about politics.

Some argue for open borders and say no one is illegal. But recent protests and celebrity actions reveal they support boundaries when it serves their own interests.

In Minnesota, anti-ICE protestors set up checkpoints to control who could enter certain streets. Reporters saw them stopping cars, checking IDs and plates, and only letting non-ICE people through public roads.

“F-ck ICE,” Billie Eilish said while accepting a Grammy. “No one is illegal on stolen land.”

Yet when someone entered her property without permission, she asked the courts to enforce specific boundaries to keep her safe. For Eilish, personal borders suddenly mattered.

Protestors also built barricades to close off neighborhoods, making their own makeshift borders. These moves show they know the importance of deciding who stays and who goes.

This isn’t just about celebrities. The anti-ICE crowd says “ICE Out” but still makes it clear that belonging is important to them, just not at the national level.

At the end of the day, ICE exists because Americans chose to have borders through a democratic process. Those who oppose ICE use borders themselves but reject the right of the country to do the same.

They understand the use of borders—they just oppose America setting its own.
