Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump won’t attend the Super Bowl, citing performer choices and travel distance.
  • He criticized the NFL’s pick of Bad Bunny and Green Day for the event.
  • This year’s game is held far from Trump’s residence, in California.

President Trump made it clear he’s staying home from this year’s Super Bowl. He’s taking issue with who’s on stage and how far he’d have to travel for the big game.

Trump said he opposed having Bad Bunny headline the halftime show and wasn’t happy about Green Day performing at the opening ceremony. Both groups have openly slammed his administration in the past.

“I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice.”

“All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” the president stated.

The Super Bowl is in California this year, which Trump said is simply too far away for him.

“It’s just too far away. I would.”

“I’ve gotten great hands at the Super Bowl. They like me,” he added.

“I would go if, you know, it was a little bit shorter.”

He was the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl last year, showing up when the game was in New Orleans.

Trump has also called the NFL’s decision to feature Bad Bunny

“Absolutely ridiculous.”

“I never heard of him.”

“I don’t know who he is, I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s crazy, and then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment, I think it’s absolutely ridiculous,” Trump said.

Bad Bunny, known as Benito Ocasio, refused to perform in the U.S. over ICE carrying out immigration enforcement. Ocasio posted a video criticizing ICE agents, using foul language against them.

During an interview, Bad Bunny said he avoided U.S. shows out of worry fans could be targeted by ICE at concerts.

Social media users have also noticed that none of Bad Bunny’s songs are in English. When backlash hit, he told folks to learn Spanish if they didn’t like it.

Super Bowl picks shouldn’t divide the country. Ordinary folks want family-friendly events, not more politics.

Americans in the heartland want entertainment that brings us together, not acts that ignore our values and language. Most folks just want a football game without the extra drama.

Your short and to-the-point Wyatt Matters says it all. I’ll add that most everything surrounding Super Bowl productions for the last decade or so have been a waste of the normal, everyday, common sense human experience. Pure, unadulterated trash.

I am going to watch the game because I’m the 12th man. I won’t watch halftime

I won’t be watching, not even for the commercials, I hope Budweiser pulls their advertising. I’ll be watching the other halftime show.
