January 1, Trump Eyes Bold Cost-Cutting Moves in Oval Speech
Wyatt’s Take
- Prices have fallen and new policies could make life more affordable.
- Trump’s plans may target housing, health care, and shrinking government.
- Middle America is watching for real relief, not just talk.
President Trump heads to the Oval Office ready to highlight how life got a bit easier this year: gas, groceries, and prescription prices are down, and the border is tighter. But folks across the heartland still feel the pinch at the dinner table, and Trump’s planning to pitch big fixes that bring direct relief.
Aides say he’ll focus on making life less costly—maybe by kickstarting affordable homes and cutting back on federal red tape, much like the postwar boom that helped regular Americans own homes for the first time.
Rep. Ralph Norman believes Trump’s speech will be uplifting and show how he works nonstop to put Americans first.
“He just loves America, and America is seeing what somebody that loves a country is doing,”
he told reporters.
Experts say tightening local zoning rules, especially in blue states, have priced folks out of homes they can’t afford. Trump could use federal funds to encourage towns to welcome new, cheaper homes and to create a national home-building code anyone can use. By picking a new Federal Reserve chair focused on lower rates, mortgages could get cheaper and more families could finally buy a home.
On health care, Trump advisers are calling for affordable options—dumping corporate handouts and letting folks pick what works for them. He’s already hammered drug prices and might even fund health savings accounts using tariff money, giving every American a shot at better, cheaper coverage.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says the real pocketbook help will come next year if growth hits 3% and Trump’s agenda keeps moving.
“Next year we’re going to move on to prosperity,”
Bessent said.
As these ideas roll out, working families are anxious for policies that finally ease the squeeze Washington created.
If Trump delivers substance, not just statistics, he’ll strike a chord with Americans hungry for real solutions.
