January 1, Trump Brokers Peace Between Cambodia and Thailand

President Trump helped broker an expanded ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, ending a deadly border conflict. Both sides signed the agreement at a summit, with Trump watching, after months of U.S. pressure.
The deal includes the release of 18 Cambodian soldiers and removing heavy weapons from both sides of the border.
“We did something that a lot of people said couldn’t be done,”
Trump said.
Cambodia’s leader called it a
“historic day.”
The prime minister of Thailand said this sets up
“the building blocks for a lasting peace.”
The summit took place in Malaysia, where Trump also signed trade agreements with Malaysia, aiming to strengthen U.S. supply chains and reduce reliance on China.
The U.S. and Malaysia agreed to improve trade relations, giving new opportunities to both their exporters.
Malaysia’s Prime Minister noted
“reconciliation is not concession, but an act of courage.”
