January 1, Trucker Protest Eyes Washington, DC

The Freedom Convoy has its sights set on Washington, D.C.

Organizer Bob Bolus says his group plans to shut down the Capital Beltway in the D.C. region this week.

“I’ll give you an analogy of that of a giant boa constrictor,” Bolus said.

“That basically squeezes you, chokes you and it swallows you, and that’s what we’re going to do D.C.”

The news comes after a trucker blockade in Canada caused massive disruptions in protest of COVID-19 restrictions.

Bolus said he plans to leave Pennsylvania, his home state, on Wednesday.

“We will be along the Beltway where the Beltway will be shut down,” he said.

“There will be a lane open for emergency vehicles, they’ll be able to get in and out and all that,” Bolus added.

“We will not compromise anybody’s safety or health, one way or the other.”

Bolus aims to shut down the Beltway for at least a couple of days.
