January 1, Transportation Official Caught Using Blow-Up Doll in HOV Lane

A New York transportation official was caught with an inflatable doll in his passenger seat, which he claims is there “for the company” and not to subvert high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane restrictions.

The New York Post confronted Giulio Divirgilio, a general superintendent at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), pulling into his Brooklyn office with the blow-up doll in the passenger seat.

“I don’t use it for the HOV,” Divirgilio told The Post. “I use it for the company.”

However, Divirgilio’s coworkers don’t seem convinced.

“It was weird when we saw that thing [in his car] in the morning. Why would anyone have that there except to do HOV stuff?” one unnamed employee said.

“It’s unbecoming of a manager,” a union official said. “We laugh, but what else is he doing in secret that we don’t know about?”
