  • Sen. Tim Scott says Trump is motivating voters for 2026.
  • The GOP aims to expand their Senate majority by targeting key states.
  • The affordability crisis is shaping the battle lines between Republicans and Democrats.

Sen. Tim Scott, the top Republican in charge of Senate races, says “Donald Trump is on the ballot” for the 2026 midterm elections. He told voters that Trump’s influence is strong, promising the former president’s presence on the campaign trail will bring out Republican voters.

“Donald Trump is on the ballot, and that’s why he’s been so active around the country,” Scott explained. He sees Trump’s involvement as key to motivating supporters who usually only vote in presidential years.

At a rally in North Carolina, Trump joined Michael Whatley, the likely GOP Senate candidate, highlighting one of the most heated Senate races expected next year. Whatley stated, “We’re certainly going to need him to be on the ballot.” He warned that if Democrats retake Congress, it could mean more investigations and policies that erase Trump’s work.

Republicans credit Trump and their party for making big gains in 2024 by focusing on the cost of living, winning back the White House and the Senate, and keeping control of the House. Yet persistent inflation keeps affordability at the forefront, and Democrats have been pressing that message hard after successes in recent elections. Scott believes Republicans will turn the tide and that 2026 will be “a year of affordability.” The tax cuts signed by Trump are a key part of their pitch to voters.

“2026 is shaping up to be the year where Donald Trump’s activities, his actions, the legislation we’ve passed, shows up for the American voter,” Scott claimed. He promises families will feel relief as the GOP Senate and House work with Trump.

Democrats, however, argue the opposite. Lauren French of the Senate Majority PAC said, “Even Tim Scott is occasionally right — 2026 will be the year of affordability.” She argued that Republican policies have made things less affordable, with rising costs for essentials hitting families hardest. French added, “The out-of-touch insistence from the GOP that the economy is thriving proves they don’t understand what working families are facing.” She says that’s why Democrats keep winning tough races.

Scott also took a jab at Democratic Senate hopefuls, calling them “cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.” The fight for Senate control will be fierce, with 35 seats up for grabs, but key battlefield states like Michigan, New Hampshire, and Georgia are top Republican targets. They’re also eyeing a potential new candidate in Minnesota, hoping to flip more seats their way.

Scott remains hopeful, saying the GOP is “excited about expanding our map,” and believes a strong candidate in Minnesota will give Republicans a real shot. But he also knows the party must defend its ground in states like Texas, North Carolina, Maine, and Ohio, where the races might get messy.

Scott finished by predicting Republicans could reach 54 seats in the Senate if things break their way.

I voted for Tim Scott. I am sorry I did. He doesn’t answer my emails and I disagree with him most of the time. I cannot believe that he agrees with Trump, the racist in chief.

Wyatt, could you please tell us why you keep referring to President Trump as ‘Former’ in his 2nd term? Appreciate it, very much. Thanks!
