January 1, The 14 Republicans Who Voted to Advance Gun Legislation
Earlier this week, the Senate voted 64-34 to advance an 80-page bipartisan gun safety bill about one hour after its text was unveiled.
Every Senate Democrat voted in favor, and 14 Republicans crossed party lines.
The sweeping legislation “provides financial incentives for states to create mental health programs and implement ‘red flag’ laws, requires expanded background checks for gun buyers under 21, increases penalties for straw purchases of firearms, and closes the so-called ‘boyfriend loophole,’ prohibiting romantic partners convicted of domestic violence and not married to their victims from getting firearms,” the New York Post reports.
Here are the 14 Republicans who voted to advance the gun safety bill, in no particular order:
- Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
- Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX)
- Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.)
- Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME)
- Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.)
- Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA)
- Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO)
- Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.)
- Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT)
- Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH)
- Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.VA.)
- Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA)
- Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
- Sen. Todd Young (R-IN)

I AM HAPPY TO SEE THAT NO ARIZONA SENATOR VOTED TO ADVANCE THIS STUPID BILL. TAKING GUNS FROM CITIZENS LEAVES THER U.S.A. OPEN TO SOMETHING LIKE THE SCENARIO DEPICTED IN THE MOVIE “RED DAWN” ! WEE THE PEOPLE WILL DEFEND OUR COUNTRY EVEN IF THE POLITICIANSD WON’T ! WHEN THE POLITICIANS WON’T DO WHAT IS NECESSARY AND RIGHT THEN THEY MUST BE REPLACED BY THOISE WHO WILL DO RIGHT BY ALL LEGAL(NOT ILLEGAL) AMERICANS – LIKE KEEP THE MILITARY AND POLICE UP TO PAR TO KEEP US SAFE FROM CRIMINALS AND INVADING FORCES AND KEEP WITHIN THE SPENDING BUDGET THEY ARE GIVEN AND THEY ARDE NOT THERE IN POLITICS TO MAKE IT A LIFELOPNG JOB BUT FOR ONLY SO MANY TERMS SO THEYDO NOT STAGNATE !

Excuse please but BOTH Arizona senators voted in favor. Quote: “Every Senate Democrat voted in favor…” That would be Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema, both Democrats.
