Wyatt’s Take

  • Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett kicked off her Senate run with an ad featuring Trump’s old insults.
  • Her launch drew cheers from liberals and jeers from conservatives on social media.
  • She claims Texas isn’t as red as people think and vows a tough campaign.

Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas launched her Senate campaign Monday with an ad using past insults from President Donald Trump. The ad, first posted to X, showed Crockett standing as Trump’s remarks about her played in the background.

“How about this new one they have? Their new star, Crockett. How about her? She’s the new star of the Democrat Party, Jasmine Crockett. They’re in big trouble,” Trump said.

“Somebody said the other day, she’s one of the leaders of the party. I said you gotta be kidding,” Trump continued.

“Oh man, oh man. She’s a very low IQ person…now they’re gonna rely on Crockett. Crockett’s gonna bring them back,” he added.

Liberal voices praised Crockett’s ad online as clever and bold, calling it a strong opening move. Democratic strategist Adam Parkhomenko said, “She’s smart, fearless, relentless, and she doesn’t back down from anybody. This is the matchup Texas deserves. Let’s go.”

Conservatives responded with mockery and sarcasm. “I never thought I’d say this but I agree with every word of this Jasmine Crockett ad,” Matt Walsh commented.

At her campaign event, Crockett declared, “Gloves have been off” and asked for support as “the next United States Senator from the greatest state of Texas.” She argued, “They tell us that Texas is red. They are lying, we’re not. The reality is that most Texans don’t get out to vote.”

She also noted that polling numbers pushed her to run, saying, “I could have played it safe and continued serving in the United States House of Representatives…but I didn’t choose to do that because Texas, this moment we’re in now, is life or death, and it’s all or nothing.”

The campaign event included music from Cameron McCloud, who rapped, “They only trying to scare her out running because they think she’ll win…Got two words for every racist bigot, Jasmine Crockett.”

Jasmine Crockett has kicked off her campaign promising a tough fight and claiming Texas is ready for new leadership. Only time will tell if voters agree with her message or with Trump’s digs.
