  • CBS pulled the interview to avoid FCC equal time trouble.
  • Democrats spin the story for fundraising and media clicks.

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett made it clear she never got an invite to CBS’ Colbert show about the Senate race.

She said, “No, I’ve not been invited on Colbert prior to his interview nor post his interview.”

CBS was worried about breaking the FCC’s rules that say both candidates must be treated fairly, so they pulled state Rep. James Talarico’s segment.

Crockett did get a call from the parent company after all this happened but insists nobody reached out about the show before or after.

“I can confirm that I had never been asked to go on as it relates to kind of talking about the Senate race,” she said.

Talarico and Colbert acted like the FCC chairman, Brandon Carr, stopped the interview from airing, but CBS later said they were not blocked, only warned it could cause issues with the equal time rule.

Talarico bragged about raising $2.5 million after CBS pulled his segment and kept blaming the FCC, even though that wasn’t the case.

During a press event, Carr commented on the drama:

“A Democrat candidate who understood the way that the news media works and took advantage of all of your prior conceptions to run a hoax apparently for the purpose of raising money and getting clicks,” Carr said. “And apparently the news media played right into it.”

The FCC is now looking into ABC’s ‘The View’ for possibly breaking the same rule, since Disney didn’t file the right paperwork after hosting Talarico.
